5 Habits I Want To Break

To be happy, one must learn how to live positively. This can be difficult. It is easier to see the downside and think in a negative manner than to find good in everything. By changing the way you think, you can live a happier and more positive lifestyle. Break old habits and learn how to see the good around you to be happy, which in turn will give your health and relationships a natural boost. Below are a few habits I want to break to become a more positive person.
Think Happy Thoughts
A horrible habit I am guilty of is to think in a negative manner. As soon as one thing goes wrong, I start to focus on everything that could go wrong. To avoid this type of behavior, think happy thoughts. When something does go wrong, think about how it could have been much worse. Focus on the good of the day and how great your life is overall to avoid walking down the road to negativity.
Surround Yourself with Positive People
Being surrounded by negative people will only exacerbate your own negativity. Find friends and spend time with family members who are positive. Their happiness and attitude will rub off on you and help you to see things in a different manner.
Let Go
Learn how to let things go. I tend to hold on to negative comments by others which is only going to bring me down. Focus on the good rather than the bad. If someone says something that bothers you or does something mean, don’t dwell on it. They obviously have problems too and that is why they acted a certain way towards you. If you can have a new rule of letting things go that bother you, you will feel much better in your day to day life, leaning towards the positive.
Avoid Drowning in Sorrow
When one thing goes wrong, it can be easy to drown in the negativity. I myself have a hard time coming out of a dark place when everything seems to be going wrong. There is always a bright side. Find it. When you feel like the world is against you, fight back. Don’t let problems stack up. Talk with someone, preferably someone who is a positive person, to help see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Ask for Help
If you feel yourself going down a negative path, ask for help. Seek out advice or just talk to friends and family. Lean on others to help pull yourself out of the difficult time. You will begin to see the positive again once you learn how to lean on others for assistance.
